West Seneca UPK Room!

Congratulations and welcome to our West Seneca Universal Pre-Kindergarten Program!

We are excited to partner with you and look forward to helping your child grow and develop

throughout the year. This is an important and exciting time as children reach many new

milestones. Social and independent skills become a major focus, and their imaginations truly begin

to soar.

Our program follows a structured curriculum provided by the West Seneca School

District. Over the summer, we will hold a parent-only meeting to review policies, procedures, and

required paperwork. In August, we will host an Open House for children and families. During this

time, paperwork and supplies may be dropped off, and your child will have the opportunity to

meet their teachers and make new friends.

Outdoor play is an important part of our daily routine, weather permitting, so please dress

your child appropriately. We ask that children wear Velcro shoes only—no laces or boots. Socks

and sneakers are required each day. After lunchtime, children will rest on a cot and may bring a

small, soft, quiet toy for rest time.

Each child should bring a book bag and folder to transport artwork and homework and

any soiled clothing. Carrying their own bag helps children feel responsible and confident. Please

remember that book bags are within children’s reach; do not send medications, food, or small

items that could pose a choking hazard. All medications must be clearly labeled, handed directly

to a teacher, and accompanied by a physician’s form. Please let us know if you need a copy of this

form.

A specially prepared monthly menu is provided and is posted in the hallway and on our

website. We also practice table manners during family-style meals, where children pass food and

serve themselves.

Families will receive a weekly email highlighting classroom activities. As your child

progresses through the units, reading books will be sent home—please be sure these are returned.

The Teachers may also send home occasional homework sheets to be completed and returned.

We use the Procare app for communication, allowing you to message your child’s teacher

throughout the day and receive updates regarding supplies or classroom needs.

If you ever have questions, concerns, compliments, or suggestions, we want to hear from

you. Please feel free to speak with your child’s teachers or the directors at any time. We look

forward to a wonderful and successful year together!
